Many people have written the obituary for Le Web 4. But let's be fair: of course the speakers said the same old thing and nothing new -- that's THEIR deal, getting comfortable and not taking chances. Do you know the conditions that many of these people require for their presence? "No questions", "No controversy" ... I have heard it all as an event organizer. And it dumbs things down but to get the big names, which are the draw for many attendees, you have to agree to it. We do want more people than just us, right?
I do agree that the political side was painful and had no place. To save Le Web 4, Loic should create an independent committee of people from different countries which decides on the program, as well as get speakers who will actually embrace controversy, speak to it, and respond to the audience's questions.
For slams on Le Web 3, see here, here and here. There are plenty more, my fingers got tired.
On a side note -- Sam, Fred, you guys can really dance, who knew? And please make sure to vote for LA on the "Babes of Le Web 3" Web site, we need to get her listed in the top 5, it's viral, people, let's go. She's the 5 photo (black & white) -- you have to send the link to leledaino@mac.com and insist she be listed in the Top 5.
